OCRT has the experience and expertise to guide transformation, build capacity and deliver quality solutions.

We take a human-centric, systems-based approach to strategy development to support organisations with challenges across technology, growth, and risk.

We engage early, communicate regularly, and develop iteratively to achieve organisational objectives. We do so with the organisation’s longevity and success in mind, ensuring all concepts, processes, and systems are developed to be operated beyond our identified period of support.

We have a proven record of delivering high quality solutions.

What we do

  • Our work across Government and business gives us the ability to provide actionable information, building your situational awareness and enhancing informed strategy development. We simplify the complex machinery of Government to inform profitable decision making and winning business strategy.

  • OCRT has extensive experience in the creation and delivery of strategic concepts for the ADF, having led the planning, development, and publication of numerous major strategic initiatives. These have included developing Army’s capstone future operating concept, and the development and delivery of command and capability specific concepts. These concepts play a major role in guiding and shaping the ADF’s transformation over the next decade and beyond, indicating the critical value OCRT has brought to these projects. Central to OCRT’s success in delivering these projects is the unique blend of staff OCRT utilises in support of contracts. Strategic concept work entails the use of a blended-team structure that exercises layered expertise. In short, OCRT brings together veterans with Defence-specific experience, communications specialists with a range of public media backgrounds, and academics with experience in the development and publication of research-driven and evidence-based concepts. These diverse teams are capable of collating their various expertise to deliver high quality, relevant, and rigorous deliverables.

  • We take a human-centric, systems-based approach to strategy development to support organisations with challenges across technology, growth, and risk. Our codified four phase approach to strategy development (plan and understand, discover and hypothesise, design and iterate, develop and deliver) covers the strategy life cycle from problem identification, to strategic direction setting. This is supported by our highly experienced team of consultants who have delivered complex strategies across the financial, defence and security sectors, as well as Federal and State Governments.

  • We use industry benchmarking and fact-based analysis to review internal organisational strategy. We work to understand whether operational objectives align with strategic direction to identify and realise new value creation opportunities.

  • Organisations often fall short of realising potential due to limited focus on implementation planning. We understand that the work doesn’t stop when the strategic direction is set – it’s when the real work begins! Our team of experienced consultants have supported a number of organisations to develop detailed implementation plans and performance frameworks to ensure strategic outcomes are realised. We take a pragmatic approach to strategic implementation planning to identify and prioritise activities while considering realistic constraints such as resourcing, scheduling, and cost.

  • Organisations know that they need to innovate to remain competitive, but often lack the necessary frameworks and processes to realise new opportunities. We understand that innovation is challenging, and that organisations need to take a structured approach to innovation that starts with an innovation strategy that is closely aligned with their business strategy. Our multi-disciplinary team can help organisations across the innovation life cycle from strategy to proof-of-concept generation, and solution scaling. We combine the best innovation approaches from the public and private sector, as well as academia to help our clients look in and out for new opportunities.

  • OCRT has played a crucial role in developing strategic engagement material to key ministers in the Australian Government. Working as part of CIOG, in the Department of Defence, OCRT lead ministerial engagements through providing a conduit between the Department and relevant ministerial officers. In short, OCRT work closely with project leads and other CIOG staff to understand the specifics of key – often multi-million or multi-billion dollar – projects with significant national security implications for Australia. OCRT is responsible for engaging ministerial staff regarding these projects, providing updates, responding to requests for information, and developing crucial project documentation, enabling the on-time, within budget, successful delivery and administration of core Defence ICT projects. OCRT’s unique approach to utilising a blended workforce is critical to its success in this area. OCRT unites Defence veterans, engineers, and academics with experience in producing high-level strategic documentation. These teams can develop a granular understanding of projects, render project-specification information comprehensible to a lay and ministerial audience, and produce relevant documentation and other deliverables necessary to the successful implementation of these projects. OCRT’s varied expertise is central to its success, and is critical to enabling the success of CIOG.
